Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Does the gym equipment conform to safety standards?
A. There is currently no national or European standard for free access and unsupervised outdoor fitness equipment, although a European standard is in the pipeline. Record RSS have designed this equipment to be as safe as possible for both users and those in it's proximity. It has been assessed against relevant sections of EN957 - Stationary Training Equipment although it should be stressed that this standard is for "supervised" equipment.
Q. Does the equipment have instructions for use on it?
A. Each item of fitness equipment has a label offering information on the items function, guidance on its safe use and a warning that users with a medical condition should consult their physician before exercising on it. If required, we can also provide a dedicated sign for the site with specific instructions.
Q. Is the equipment safe for all to use?
A. No item of fitness equipment can be considered safe for all to use, that's why a warning is added to the label advising those with a medical condition to consult their doctor before use.
Q. What is the age range?
A. The equipment has been designed for a minimum user height of 1.4m.
Q. Do the users need to have induction lessons?
A. No, the equipment has been designed in a way that users will always work within their limits. Record RSS have consulted with physiotherapist, Kalle Hofmann, to develop groups of equipment ensuring you have a balanced fitness programme.
Q. What is the equipment made of?
A. The equipment is manufactured from structural steel. The powder coated finishing process consists of shot blasting to SA2½ to provide a key for the application of zinc rich primer (Interpon PZ770 to a thickness of 80 microns) followed by a top colour coat of Interpon 610 to a thickness of 50 microns.
Q. Does the equipment require special surfacing?
A. Impact absorbing surfacing is not required for this equipment but if installed into grass then "grassmatt" may be advisable to prevent the grass wearing.
Q. How much maintenance does the equipment require?
A. Very little. The simple designs and strong construction mean the equipment is robust and requires minimal ongoing maintenance. However, we also offer an Inspection & Maintenance service, see http://www.recordrss.co.uk/inspection-maintenance.htm
Adult Fitness Equipment: Further to the Advisory note issued by the RPII on the 26th August; SMP can confirm that the Action Stations Fitness Equipment products referred to in this quotation have been certified by TUV to their Europe wide test protocol. As with other products of this type Action Stations are generally suitable for users over the age of 12 years. Together with the RPII we recommend this type of equipment should not be installed inside an area that is dedicated to play for children under the age of 12 years younger or less competent children. We recommend that the equipment is segregated in such a way that it is not confused as 'Children's Playground Equipment'. A full copy of the RPII advisory note is available on request. |
